Newsletter January 2017

Dear all as the 2017 Chinese New Year is upon us it seems a good time to bring you up to date on all at the Soup Kitchen.

2016 was another very busy year here in Xi'an for the Soup Kitchen, in total we ran 187 projects with an input of well over 9000 volunteer man hours. During the past 11 years we have run a total of 1845 projects, served over 155,000 meals at the Soup Kitchen, delivered aid to approximately 60,000 people in rural villages, in addition to delivering over 110 wheelchairs to the elderly and disabled and fitting 12 disabled people with prosthetic limbs and helping over 90 homeless people find work & street children return home. During this time over 10,000 volunteers have come to work with us and offer service.

By way of recognition the Yellow River Soup Kitchen has just received two awards, one from Tencent, the largest internet company in Asia, and the second award was presented to us by the China Merchants Bank, in recognition of 11 years of work for public welfare in Xi’an. Below is a link to a short video.

Every month we make available up to date details of our expenses and donations, here is a summary of 2016 total costs, donations, the balance remaining in the bank at the end of each month and an approximation of how many months future expenses that balance will cover.

We have recently added two new videos to our website, the first a summary of 2016’s projects and the second a short video covering the two awards we received this past month.
